Justin Britt is a proud native of Lexington County. He is the son of Earl and Teresa Britt and is happily married to Jennifer Henderson Britt, a Nurse Practitioner at SC Internal Medicine. Justin and his wife are the excited new parents of a daughter, Logan Madison, who was recently born, and they are embracing the joy of parenthood as they also look to show Lexington how Justin can bring a Fresh Start to Lexington County law enforcement. Justin and his wife are members of Northside Baptist Church in Lexington, SC.

Justin has spent his entire career in public service. He started by serving the constituents of the SC Second Congressional District in the office of Congressman Joe Wilson. He next moved into law enforcement, seeking more hands-on community involvement and to protect and serve, which has afforded experience from the ground-up with such agencies as the State Law Enforcement Division and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. His work has ranged from working in court house security, on patrol, as a school resource officer, and in investigations to fugitive apprehension. Experience in protecting our legal system, neighborhoods, and schools and teachers, alongside expertise in investigating and apprehending our worst offenders is what gives Justin the background to understand, work for and protect the entirety of our County.

Currently on the fugitive taskforce with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Justin has been recognized for his diligent service and awarded many honors. Due to his relentless efforts in serving over 350 violent felony warrants in a single year, in 2011, Justin was given “Investigator of the Year."

Community-based policing is a cornerstone of Justin’s approach. As a collaborative partnership between a law enforcement agency and the individuals and organizations they serve, the primary goal is to develop solutions to problems and increase the trust in the sheriff’s department. Justin vows to be a working, transparent sheriff who will strive to create community partnerships with the citizens of Lexington County, non-profits/service providers, private businesses, and other government agencies.

Justin has a tireless work effort and believes in leading by example. No stranger to hard work, he is a "boots on the ground" type of leader. People say that Justin leads by example; operates in a fair and forthright manner; understands the law; builds cohesive teams; accepts responsibility and is relentless in accountability; and Justin has a passion for action.
